‘Tis the season for gratitude and mass consumerism, love and tension, new beginnings and a rush to close out the year. This twelfth month is always a whirlwind of friends, parties, food, late nights, shopping and gift giving. So, where are you in all this?

Last month I wrote about the very real tornado that touched down not far from our home. That was one of the many  tornadoes that touched down too close to too many homes in Indiana and my home state, Illinois. Tonight I am writing about the tornado of the holiday season.

Amidst the flurry of activity that characterizes the holiday season, it is in our best interest and those we love that we carve out some time to care for ourselves. We can give of ourselves, attend events, solve problems and check items off the to-do list, but at some point we are going to hit the wall. Everything comes to a screeching halt. We’ve all been there.

Quiet time alone, meditation, yoga, walks, massage – whatever your brand of self care – are especially important in this month of holidays and celebrations. We at Main Street Yoga invite you to join us for some healing quiet time among friends and neighbors. Come to our free community classes this Thursday evening at 5:45 pm (note the time change) and on Saturday, December 14 at 9 am.
