yin yoga

yin yoga deep stretch 1

If Vinyasa is the yang of yoga, then the long holds in fewer poses are appropriately the yin of yoga. Props are used to support the body in this practice that asks practitioners to find stillness while experiencing the lengthening of muscle and unbinding of fascial tissue. Deceptively simple, Yin classes are more appropriate for non-beginners. Poses are held for as long as 7 minutes, which requires finding but not exceeding the edge of your physical ability. Ultimately the challenge comes from keeping the mind as still as the body.
